I thought I’d switch things up and head to One Red Door in Hudson’s First & Main section where there are an array of outdoor concerts and activities to enjoy. Of course, you need to pregame for such an event, and downtown Hudson has quite the setup for that.
I checked out the appetizer list at One Red Door about an hour and a half before a concert started. I picked out a $9 order of roasted dates, stuffed with manchego cheese and chorizo and wrapped in bacon. Yum!
I followed that up with a $16 ahi tuna bowl that comes with coconut jasmine rice, avocado, sesame cucumber noodles and pickled jalapeños. I would recommend getting the togarashi dressing on the side.
The food selection is always my first order of business before studying the wine list for a suitable companion. One Red Door’s wine list is small but mighty. Lots of wonderful choices!
The $12 glass of Newsprint Cabernet Franc was calling my name. I knew it would be an excellent wine to have with the roasted date appetizer, and happily surprised that it was perfect with the tuna bowl. My girlfriend selected a $12 glass of the Dibon Brut Rose cava to pair with both appetizers. It’s our favorite and always super food friendly.
The cool thing about the outdoor concerts at Hudson’s First & Main is that to-go drinks and glasses of wine can be taken outside in special DORA cups.
DORA stands for Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area. So we ordered a $12 margherita pizza to go along with a couple of DORA refills to enjoy the concert outside on the lawn.
