13 Reading schools get more than $450,000 to provide healthy food to students | Local News

Thirteen Reading School District elementary schools are among 288 across the state to get federal dollars to help provide fresh fruit and vegetables to students.

The state is providing a total of $7 million to help make sure kids get healthy snacks during the school day. Reading schools will receive a total of $451,800.

Nonprofits, Schools Can Enter To Win a Free Air Filtration System

An Exeter-based HVAC business will donate a $14,000 air filtration system to a randomly selected nonprofit or school on the Seacoast.

The organization needs to be within 60 miles of Exeter and no purchase is necessary to enter the contest, according to an announcement.

M2 Mechanical Director Steve Klatt said the system is known as a “scrubber” and can clean 8,300 square feet of air using three patented methods known as HEPA, UVC and Bipolar Ionization.

HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter. UVC is for ultraviolet light which sanitizes the air.
