Thirteen Reading School District elementary schools are among 288 across the state to get federal dollars to help provide fresh fruit and vegetables to students.
The state is providing a total of $7 million to help make sure kids get healthy snacks during the school day. Reading schools will receive a total of $451,800.
The grants are funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program and administered by the state Department of Education.
